EMS Truck Repair is a full-service truck shop located on Airport Road in Eugene, Oregon. We recently celebrated our 50th business anniversary, and have a dedicated staff of 25 employees. EMS Truck Repair has been a trusted resource for truck and trailer repair, maintenance and fabrication. WAGE RANGE
- $26-$36/hour (dependent on experience)
POSITION SUMMARY
The Bookkeeper will oversee the general administrative function and accounting activities of all EMS Truck Repair facilities. This includes the administrative offices, parts shop, and repair/fabrication shops. This position is primarily responsible for general bookkeeping for the business and payroll processing.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Bookkeeping
- Record numerical and financial data to produce financial records.
- Ensure financial data is entered correctly and accurately.
- Enter journal entries to debit and credit the company’s accounts.
- Generate accounting and audit reports for cash receipts, accounts payable and receivable, expenditures, and profits and losses.
- Process vendor invoices and payments accurately.
- Reconcile bank accounts.
- Reconcile and report differences or issues found in financial records.
- Execute all accounting functions with the utmost integrity.
- Perform month-end and year-end duties with the support of a CPA.
- Set-up new employees in the company's timekeeping, payroll, and employee benefits applications.
- Coordinate new hire paperwork and complete processing (W-4, I-9, etc.)
- Ensure proper confidentiality, safeguarding of sensitive information, and compliance in all activities.
Office Management
- Facilitate maintenance of office equipment including cleaning, maintenance, and repairs.
- Provide clerical support when needed to assist staff with assigned administrative duties such as answering phones, sorting and distributing mail, and preparing documents.
- Reconcile petty cash fund.
- Maintain inventory of office supplies; orders new supplies as needed.
- Maintain office files (personnel and training records) and accurate recordkeeping.
- Maintain personnel files, employee medical files, and training records.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Proficient typist; ability to type at least 60 words per minute.
- Ability to efficiently operate office equipment (printer, fax machine, telephone, etc.)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- First-hand experience with ADP and QuickBooks, preferred.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in office administration or related field preferred.
- Bookkeeping and payroll experience is required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Frequent walks between business and shop facilities.
