POSITION WAGE RANGE
$30-$38/hour
JOB OVERVIEW
As a Cargo Tank Truck Repair Tech/Fabricator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that cargo tank trucks that come through our facility are repaired to the highest standards. You will be responsible for the fabrication, welding, and repair of specialized tank trucks and their components. You will ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards - your work will directly contribute to the safety and efficiency of our operations.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent, required by FMCSA.
- Ability to read and write English, per FMCSA regulations.
- Proficiency and minimum 3 years’ experience in metal fabrication or welding.
- Minimum 1 year experience supervising a team.
- Experience in cargo tank truck repairs preferred (piping, air systems, electrical, blueprint, etc.)
- Experience with tank truck systems and components, including understanding of DOT regulations, preferred.
- Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record over the past five years (no violations), as required by company’s insurance policy.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on cargo tank trucks, including welding, metal fabrication, and structural repairs.
- Diagnose and repair tank truck components, including chassis, frames, tank shells, valves, and plumbing.
- Fabricate and weld metal components, ensuring high standards of craftsmanship and precision.
- Work with various materials including steel, aluminum, and stainless steel to repair or replace damaged tank sections and other components.
- Conduct DOT Inspections and repair air brake systems, electrical systems, suspension systems, and more.
- Follow all safety procedures and comply with OSHA regulations while working on complex truck and tank systems.
- Collaborate with other mechanics and fabricators to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.
- Document repairs and maintenance work, maintaining accurate service records.
LEADERSHIP DUTIES
- Train and mentor others.
- Handle basic conflict resolution and associated documentation.
- Complete timecard approval for the team timely and accurately.
- Act as an advocate for business direction and goals.
- Meet project deadlines and demonstrate a willingness to work a little extra to help get the job done.
- Actively contribute to EMS being a safe and positive place to work for our employees.
- Occasional regional travel for repairs, training, etc. (approximately 5-10%)
