Major Duties and Responsibilities:
• Conduct self in an ethical, professional manner; project a positive self/company/system
image.
• Track workers’ comp claims from filing through close of claim
• Gather, document, upload, and maintain all documents associated with on-the-job
injuries.
• Communicate weekly with injured team members on light duty (TD) and temporary total disability
(TTD)
• Track light duty assignments and TTD days on injured team members.
• Report weekly on number of new injures by division, status of injured team members, number of
team members on light duty, number of team members on TTD, and pertinent updates on their status or
claims status.
• Manage all documentation related to the team member’s injury, treatment, work status (phone
calls, witness statements, injury reports, medical reports, work status, and investigation reports)
• Assist facilitating team members returning to work by ordering drug screen and POET as
needed.
• Update and maintain departmental logs and files on OJIs, general liability and auto
accidents.
• Work collaboratively and effectively with department team members, all levels of management and
staff, as well as outside clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Effectively communicate with EMSA HR and EMSA crew scheduling, and EMSA Operations on work
status of team member.
• Assist with planning safety department events.
• Coordinate travel arrangements for safety department.
• Assist in meeting departmental and EMSA’s safety goals.
Qualification Requirements:
• Ability to work independently on projects or assignments as well as collaborate as part of a
cross disciplinary team on group projects.
• Strong attention to details.
• Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks at once and work in fast-paced work environment.
• Must maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times.
• Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel
• A team-oriented, solutions driven mindset with the ability to maintain a professional,
courteous, and helpful demeanor.
• Prior insurance claims experience is preferred but not required.
Education and/or Experience:
• High school diploma or GED, Associates or Bachelor’s degree in health, safety or business
administration preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to
successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
• Must have at least one-year relevant experience.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Language Skills:
• A working knowledge of English grammar, spelling and usage is required.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, coaching and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as EMSA’s polices, Safety Manual, physician’s
notes, emails.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Physical Demands
This position requires a frequent amount of time at a stationary desk sitting for up to 8 hours
daily with frequent repetitive motions that may include wrists, hands, and fingers. Hearing and
talking
daily with frequent repeating motions that may include wrists, hands, and fingers. Must be able to
lift, push, pull or carry up to 15 pounds at a time.
Work Environment:
The position works in a temperature-controlled environment with limited exposure to external
environmental conditions, such as heat, cold, rain, snow and ice. The noise level is frequently
quiet with minimal exposure to moving mechanical parts/machines.
Mental/Emotional:
This position is required to frequently meet deadlines, work with changing priorities, and carryout
instructions. Frequently use logic to analyze and problem solve difficult situations and
communicate to express or exchange ideas using proper English grammar and spelling.
