What are the responsibilities and job description for the Entry Level Laboratory Technician (Materials Science) position at EMSL Analytical, Inc?
EMSL is currently seeking a Laboratory Technician (Materials Science) in its Materials Science department in Cinnaminson, NJ. This role is hands on providing testing for various samples using microscopy. No laboratory experience is required, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees. Experienced analysts are welcomed to apply.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Utilize light and electron microscopes(PLM, RLM, Stereo Microscopy, SEM/TEM/EDX) for various applications
Design experiments to provide analytical data and interpretation to solve problems requested by customers
Interact with both internal and external customers to understand the requirements and planning for work flow
Summarize the analytical data upon completion and generate final reports
Support all sample-related activities, including preservation, preparation, and disposal
Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed
Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the manager
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Material Science or Geology or closely related science required
Light microscopy, electron microscopy, or optical mineralogy/petrographic microscope training a plus
Some laboratory experience either in academic or commercial setting is a plus
Candidate must be able to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis
Ability to work independently and with a team, prioritize work, and manage time to meet deadlines
Effective time management, organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize with minimal assistance.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Available Shift:
Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
