What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laboratory Analyst (Chemistry) position at EMSL Analytical?
EMSL is seeking a Laboratory Analyst (Chemistry) in San Leandro, CA. No laboratory experience is required, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees. Experienced analysts are welcomed to apply.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to : Perform a variety of sample preparation and analysis procedures to quantitatively measure chemical and physical properties in various matrices : air, dust, food, soil, solid, and / or water.
Operate and maintain essential analytical equipment and instruments.
Perform basic chemistry tasks such as pipetting, volumetric measurements, and the utilization of analytical balances.
Perform equipment calibrations as outlined in standard operating procedures and maintain calibrations at the required frequency
Perform basic calculations and conversions, and compile the data obtained.
Be comfortable in a laboratory setting involving handling common laboratory reagents, such as acids, bases, and organic solvents. Perform all chemical handling safely following laboratory procedures.
Understand and adhere to standard operating procedures and quality control procedures established for each analytical method.
Perform clerical work to include sample log in, scanning, and filing
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements :
Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry and / or related science degree
One year of work experience
Experience with ICP and ICP-MS
Must be able to distinguish colors to perform certain analysis
Ability to work in a fast-paced setting, be able to multi-task and prioritize assignment
Ability to work independently and with a team
Must be concise, organized, and meticulous regarding work assignments
Knowledge of basic computer skills such Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel is required
Available Shift : Monday to Friday 8 : 00 a.m. to 4 : 30 p.m. EMSL offers full time benefits : medical, dental, 401(k), voluntary benefits, paid time off, holiday pay and a flexible spending account. The pay range for this position is $21.00 to $22.50 per hour.
