What are the responsibilities and job description for the Microbiologist position at EMSL Analytical, Inc?
MPL Laboratories is seeking a full-time Microbiologist in Sparta, NJ. This position reports to the Laboratory Director. Ideal candidate will have experience with inoculation and microbial testing.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Assist Lab Director with harvesting live organisms and growth promotion testing
Assist Lab Director with suitability and challenge testing related tasks
Assist Lab Director with sterility testing and related tasks
Perform microbiological testing on water, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, cosmetics, personal care products, chemicals, food, or food constituents
Complete sample work instructions for corresponding sample testing
Assist with cleaning and preventative maintenance for laboratory work areas and stations, and laboratory equipment as needed
Perform Spore Klenz RTU spraying of laboratory areas at the end of each day
Re-stock laboratory materials as needed, report low inventory of supplies, and report damaged equipment or materials to supervisor
Participate in quality control activities and functions including but not limited to media and diluent negative controls
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Science
Degree or equivalent in Molecular Biology, Microbiology or Immunology is preferred
Must have prior educational laboratory experience, prior professional laboratory experience is a plus
Must have experience with various microbiological media and serial dilutions
Must have excellent Oral, Written, and Technical Communication
Must have math aptitude
Must be organized and possess the ability to plan day to day duties
Must be able to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis
Professional laboratory attire and mannerisms
Must have time management skills
Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
Must be able to climb ladders
Must be able to carry up to 50 pounds

Available Shift:
Tuesday to Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
