EMSL is seeking a Laboratory Analyst (Microbiology) in Beltsville, MD. No laboratory experience is required, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees. Experienced analysts are welcomed to apply.Responsibilities include but are not limited to : Preparation and analysis of microbiological samples for fungus (air, surface, and bulk materials - viable and non-viable samples) and bacteria (water)Record data in a specified mannerSample preparation and pH Adjustments and water activity testingMaintain and troubleshoot equipmentPerform quality assurance / quality control practices per company Quality Assurance / Quality Control manualAdditional duties include approving final reports following quality control and client interactionsMay be required to cross train in other areas of the laboratory to meet business demandsSome clerical duties as assigned : log-in data entry, scanning and emailing reports and answering phonesRequirements : Bachelors Degree in Biological Science- Biology or Microbiology preferred Some environmental microbiology lab experience is a plus, but not requiredExperience with spore traps, direct microscopic exam, culture-based microbiology, bacteriology, and / or mycology is a plusAble to multi-task and adhere to requirements of the Quality Management SystemGood communication and interpersonal skills are requiredAbility to pay close attention to detail and follow standard laboratory practices regarding quality control, laboratory equipment use and maintenance and documentation proceduresAdhere to custody client confidentialityAble to distinguish between colors in order to perform analysisWork independently and with a teamWork well under pressure and meet client deadlinesGood computer skills both in typing and MS Office Available Shift : Monday to Friday 8 : 30 a.m. to 5 : 00 p.m. EMSL offers full time benefits : medical, dental, 401(k), voluntary benefits, paid time off, holiday pay and a flexible spending accountTo find out more about EMSL Analytical, Inc. please visit our website at : www.emsl.com EOE including Veterans and Disabled
