Laboratory Technician (Materials/Combustible Particles)

EMSL is currently seeking a Laboratory Technician (Materials/Combustible Particles) in its Materials Science department in Cinnaminson, NJ. This role is hands on providing testing for various particles for combustibility. No laboratory experience is required, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees. Experienced analysts are welcomed to apply.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Testing dust particles for various properties (particle size by sieving, milling for size reduction, moisture, ash)
Utilize specialized equipment to determine dust combustibility according to established ASTM and OSHA methods
Design experiments to provide analytical data and interpretation to solve problems requested by customers 
Responsible for equipment maintenance and qualification, interaction with vendor service and application support 
Interact with both internal and external customers to understand the requirements and planning for work flow
Summarize the analytical data upon completion and generate final reports

Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Geology, Chemical/Mechanical Engineering and/or Metallurgy 
Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
Zero to two years' laboratory experience or academic laboratory experience is preferred
Familiarity with mechanical testing and machinery is a plus 
Excellent communication skills and the ability to multi-task
Effective verbal/written communication skills, be well organized, and be self-motivated
Work well independently and with a team
Must be able to distinguish colors in order to perform the analysis.
Be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds
Position requires bending, lifting, reaching and standing to operate and run the equipment/experiments.

Available Shift: 
Position is full time, Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
