Biomedical Equipment Technician II
Repair, calibrate, and maintain all types of basic clinical and surgical center medical equipment, devices, instruments, and systems. Inspect, install, and provide preventative maintenance of general clinical equipment.
This is a field position. Territory includes Seattle metropolitan areas and Everett & Arlington, WA area. Daily travel to multiple customer locations is required. Must have a personal means of transportation.
Job Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty and responsibility.
Duties include:
- Repair, install, maintain, calibrate, and inspect a diverse range of therapeutic and diagnostic biomedical instrumentation and equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance and electrical safety testing of clinical equipment, devices, and systems.
- Diagnose and correct system and equipment malfunctions.
- Maintain documentation on new and rental equipment, inspections, and equipment repairs and failures.
- Schedule and facilitate third-party repair as necessary.
- Provide technical assistance and instruction on equipment operation and maintenance to personnel.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Supervision Received:
Individual will work under close supervision of the Senior Manager, Biomedical Services or other assigned manager.
Working Relationships:
Individual will maintain good personal relationships with fellow workers, nursing and medical staff, vendors, manufacturers, and the general public. Will be expected to participate in meetings, seminars, training, workshops, and conferences as required. May coordinate and deliver technical in-service education sessions to users as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed and meet the amount of education, training, and/or work experience required.
Education/Experience:
An associate’s degree in biomedical equipment technology and/or two or more years of experience in the repair and maintenance of medical equipment in a hospital setting is desirable. A CBET certificate is a plus. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Working Conditions:
Generally good working conditions. Possible hazards include exposure to electrical shock, ionizing radiation, chemicals and chemical fumes, high-pressure air, infectious disease, and various other hazards associated with biomedical engineering work. Protective clothing and safe work practices are required.
