Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Data Conversion Specialist to manage and execute data conversion projects, ensuring the accurate and efficient migration of data from legacy systems to new systems. This role involves analyzing data structures, developing data mapping and transformation strategies, and ensuring data integrity throughout the conversion process. The Data Conversion Specialist will work closely with project managers, business analysts, IT teams, and end-users to deliver successful data conversion outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Analysis and Mapping:
- Analyze data from legacy systems to understand data structures, relationships, and dependencies.
- Develop data mapping documents that define how data will be transformed and migrated to the target system.
- Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to understand data requirements and ensure they are met in the conversion process.
Data Extraction and Transformation:
- Extract data from legacy systems using appropriate tools and technologies.
- Develop and implement data transformation scripts and processes to cleanse, normalize, and prepare data for migration.
- Ensure data is formatted correctly and meets the requirements of the target system.
Data Loading and Migration:
- Load transformed data into the target system using data migration tools and techniques.
- Perform data verification and validation to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
- Address any data migration issues and perform necessary corrections.
Testing and Quality Assurance:
- Conduct thorough testing of data conversion processes to identify and resolve any issues.
- Collaborate with QA teams to perform data validation checks and ensure data integrity.
- Document and report on data conversion testing results.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Create and maintain detailed documentation of data conversion processes, including data mapping, transformation rules, and migration procedures.
- Generate reports on data conversion progress, issues, and outcomes for project stakeholders.
- Provide regular updates to project managers and other relevant parties.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with project managers, business analysts, IT teams, and end-users to ensure successful data conversion.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates, address concerns, and gather feedback.
- Collaborate with third-party vendors and service providers as needed.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in data conversion, data migration, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of data structures, data mapping, and data transformation processes.
- Proficiency in data extraction and transformation tools and technologies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
