Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement materials management strategies to align with production schedules and business goals.
- Analyze forecasts, actual demand, and inventory levels to influence manufacturing and procurement decisions.
- Manage inventory levels, ensuring optimal stock availability while minimizing waste and excess costs.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and purchasing teams to forecast material needs and prevent shortages.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and best practices in supply chain management.
- Monitor and improve key supply chain metrics, such as inventory turnover, cost efficiency, and supplier performance.
- Utilize ERP/MRP systems to enhance procurement and inventory management efficiency.
- Lead and mentor the materials management team, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to drive operational efficiency and reduce costs.
- Resolve order fulfillment issues and proactively develop mitigation strategies for supply chain disruptions.
- Attend design reviews and production meetings to provide material status updates and support manufacturing needs.
- Generate and analyze reports to track performance and drive supply chain improvements.
- Work with cross-functional teams on inventory planning, logistics strategies, and cost-reduction initiatives.
- Ensure timely resolution of discrepancies related to invoices, packing slips, and supplier documentation.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in materials management, supply chain, or procurement within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of inventory control, demand planning, and supplier management best practices.
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong negotiation skills and supplier relationship management experience.
- Leadership experience with a track record of mentoring and developing teams.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across multiple departments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Tableau).
- Experience in the automotive or transportation manufacturing industry.
- Certification in APICS (CPIM, CSCP) or ISM (CPSM, CSM).
- Knowledge of supply chain risk management strategies.
