The Graphic Artist/Designer is tasked to produce a wide variety of art products that include, but not limited to, presentation design, poster design, document design, technical illustrations, and photo manipulation. They develop and apply advanced graphic design concepts, techniques, and standards in a highly technical research environment. Group Graphic Artist/Designers work independently and juggle numerous projects and conflicting priorities, and interact with management as well as researchers.
Graphic Design Job Description
Graphic design is the process of communicating visually using text and images to present information. Graphic design related aspects of this position are:
- Create detailed visual solutions to complex communication problems
- Presentation designs – individual charts to complete presentations
- Document designs – technical reports, project memos, brochures, and event flyers
- Poster production – internal and external conference posters, hallway displays, and special event posters
- Logo design – program and project logos, coin designs, and other brand identity images
- Presentation clean up – Review presentations for adherence to the Laboratory’s presentation production standards and Department of Defense classification marking requirements
- Website design and update – this is a group level resource for the dissemination of group related information
- Preparing files to print
- Easily transition from Mac to Windows platforms and operating systems
- Comfortable working in a networked environment, sharing files
Graphic Arts Job Description
Graphic art is any form of visual artistic representation involving the application of lines and tones to a two-dimensional surface. Graphic arts products that will be produced in this position are:
- Technical illustrations of machinery, hardware, ships, vehicles, weapons, structures and a variety of other technical items and objects
- Concept illustrations of new technology that includes electronic components, antennas and radars, and other various hardware

Graphic Help Service Job Description
This service area is similar to a help desk within the group. It will provide rapid, on the spot resolutions to graphic-related problems to the staff as needed. This may include everything from how to use software, making suggestions of color and font choices, layout of information, and instruction on the Laboratory’s templates.
Required Skills:
- Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and 3D software
- Well experienced with Microsoft PowerPoint and Word
- Familiar with other Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office software
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $60.00 - $65.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
