Position Summary:
The Painter II works under minimal supervision to safely prepare, paint, and detail aircraft in accordance with company quality standards and FAA regulations. This role requires precision, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to use specialized tools and materials for aircraft painting.
Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in paint processes; aircraft industry experience preferred.
- Licenses: Valid Driver’s License required.
- Certifications: Must pass a Pulmonary Function Test to obtain respirator certification.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Safely prepare, paint, and detail aircraft under minimal supervision, ensuring compliance with FAA regulations and internal quality standards.
- Coordinate with supervision and inspection teams to ensure proper documentation, sign-offs, and quality compliance.
- Follow standard operating procedures when using tools and equipment, including dual-action sanders, hydraulic lift platforms, and paint sprayers.
- Properly use and maintain sealants, paint strippers, and corrosion-preventive chemicals while adhering to safety guidelines and using protective equipment.
- Comply with all safety regulations, remain alert to potential hazards, and take action to prevent risks to personnel and property.
- Utilize the material tracking system to create part demands, track discrepancies, and sign off on completed work.
- Assist with aircraft movement within hangars as needed.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by providing feedback and participating in process enhancements.
Skills & Requirements:
- Strong working knowledge of paint processes and products, including lacquers, enamels, epoxies, urethanes, and acrylics.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.
- Experience using tools and equipment associated with aircraft painting.
- Ability to interpret blueprints and engineering documentation.
- Physically capable of climbing ladders and stairs, working in confined spaces, lifting up to 40 lbs., and working any assigned shift.
- Basic computer proficiency for documentation and tracking.
