The New Mexico VA Health Care System is seeking two (2) Pharmacy Technicians (one Inpatient & one Outpatient) to provide high-quality pharmacy support services to veterans. The Pharmacy Technicians will assist licensed pharmacists in processing prescriptions, managing medication inventory, and ensuring compliance with VA regulations and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist pharmacists in the preparation and dispensing of medications for inpatient and outpatient care.
- Maintain and update patient medication records in the VA system.
- Ensure accurate labeling and packaging of prescriptions.
- Manage inventory, restock supplies, and monitor medication expiration dates.
- Process medication orders and prescriptions per VA protocols.
- Operate pharmacy equipment and automated medication dispensing systems.
- Provide excellent customer service and support to veterans, caregivers, and healthcare providers.
- Comply with VA regulations, safety protocols, and HIPAA guidelines.
- Complete all required training, including ACLS, BLS, and VA-mandated courses.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Certification: Must hold a CPT Technician Certification License.
- Citizenship Status: Open to U.S. Citizens and Green Card Holders.
- Experience: Prior experience in inpatient or outpatient pharmacy settings preferred.
- Technical Proficiency: Ability to operate pharmacy software and electronic health records systems.
- Background Clearance: Must pass OIG and SAM exclusion searches, fingerprinting, and background checks.
- Training & Credentialing: Must complete VA Training (TMS), PIV sponsorship, and signature code registration before the first day of work.
