Job Description :
We are seeking an experienced Thermal Engineer with a strong background in thermal analysis and thermal management for space systems. The successful candidate will lead thermal design efforts, perform system-level and detailed thermal analyses, and support developmental and qualification testing. This position requires expertise in modeling and simulation of space environments, orbital analysis, and hardware characterization testing. Responsibilities :
Develop geometry-based thermal models and apply physical and optical properties.
Account for critical mounting interfaces and apply dissipative heat loads.
Execute thermal analyses to ensure safe operating temperature levels.
Support system design architecture and overall thermal management decisions.
Evaluate, select, and procure thermal control hardware.
Participate in the preparation and execution of developmental and qualification testing.
Perform thermal design, analysis, and testing on optical and communication systems, including supporting electronics.
Conduct specific analyses including thermal radiator sizing and placement, cooling architectures for high-powered components, component thermal margin tracking, and transient thermal behavior assessment in space environments.
Perform hand calculations alongside CAD and thermal analysis software tools. Must Have Qualifications :
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
10 years of experience in thermal engineering and analysis for space systems.
10 years of experience using Thermal Desktop modeling software for space system development.
Currently holds a Top Secret Clearance.
2 years of experience working with space systems. Nice to Have Qualifications :
Experience with Thermal Vacuum (TVAC) test design and execution.
Experience with SolidWorks CAD software. Work Environment & Additional Information :
Work Location : Hybrid – Candidate should expect to be onsite 4-5 days per week for the first 6 months. Depending on job requirements and employee aptitude, onsite requirements may decrease over time.
Clearance Requirement : Top Secret clearance required at the start to support existing program roles.
Interview Process : Initial pre-screen with hiring manager, followed by a larger group technical interview if selected for further consideration.
Travel Requirements : Domestic / overnight travel on an intermittent basis.
This role provides an opportunity to contribute to the development of operational prototype hardware, spanning the full program life cycle from concept development to on-orbit testing.
