Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate youth support worker/caregiver to join our team. As youth support worker/caregiver, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to individuals in their home and community.
Your primary responsibilities will be to assist with daily living activities, maintain a clean and safe environment, and promote overall well-being. Each clients needs are unique, and may involve different tasks needing to allow them to remain at home safely. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about social work or special education, and have a strong commitment to assisting others.
Hours for this position will be afterschool and/or weekends.
Duties:
- Provide personal care, including bathing, dressing, and toileting may be required depending on the client.
- Assist with daily living activities, such as meal preparation, medication reminders, and mobility.
- Manage behavior and implement strategies to minimize challenging behaviors.
- Support individuals with autism and other special needs, adapting care to meet their unique requirements.
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as grooming, feeding, and dressing.
- Engage in social activities, such as community outings and client preferred activities, to promote socialization and mental stimulation.
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients and their families, providing emotional support and addressing any concerns.
Skills:
- Caregiving, childcare, or disability experience required.
- Strong understanding of behavior management strategies and the ability to implement them effectively.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks as needed.
- Ability to adapt care to meet the unique needs of individuals in these environments.
