Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Youth Skills Worker to join our team on a part-time basis. This role is essential in supporting individuals with disabilities in their daily living activities, promoting independence, and enhancing their quality of life. The ideal candidate will be patient, understanding, and skilled in various areas of care and support.
This position requires staff to work Wednesday-Friday 3pm-7pm and every other weekend. Staff with autism experience encouraged to apply.
Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and household tasks.
- Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive interactions and outcomes.
- Support clients in community integration through home community care activities.
- Drive clients to appointments or community events as needed.
- Collect data on client progress and report findings to the appropriate team members.
- Foster a supportive environment for individuals with developmental disabilities, encouraging skill development and independence.
- Skill enhancement in communications, interpersonal skills, problem solving, decision making, self-regulation, conflict resolution, money management, and more!
- Support clients with improving skills deficits using methods such as modeling, monitoring. mentoring, supervision, assistance, and cuing as needed and becoming necessary depending on clients needs.
Skills
- Strong background in social work or related fields.
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques tailored for individuals with disabilities.
- Proficiency in assisting with ADLs and home community care practices.
- Ability to drive safely and responsibly to transport clients as necessary.
- Competence in data collection methods for tracking client progress.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities, particularly those with developmental challenges.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
Experience
- Previous experience working with developmental disabilities or special needs required
- Strong background in behavior management
- Skills in skill development or individualized care/coaching
- 2 years experience caring for youth in either childcare, caregiving, schools, or other settings
