Position Summary
In a partnership with Juvenile Probation, Encompass Community Services Stable Transition After Re-Entry (STAR) program is hiring a full time counselor to provide support to youth who are preparing to exit Probation placements and return to family-based home environments. Counselors, called Re-Entry Specialists, provide assessment of needs, case management, and collaboration with youth support systems, and coordination with other service providers. The ideal candidate is bilingual, comfortable providing community-based services, and has experience working with systems-involved youth. Must have initiative and strong professional comportment. Bilingual differential available for qualifying candidates.
Essential Functions
Provide intake assessments, case management, and skill-building to youth and families. Travel to community locations and homes to reduce barriers to access (agency COVID safety protocols developed in coordination with County Public Health Department).
Link youth and families to career/life skills trainings, pro-social activities, and other resources.
Coordinate with Probation staff to enroll eligible participants. Collaborate professionally with all partner agencies.
Attend weekly Probation meetings as well as program meetings
Maintain audit-quality documentation of services.
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
Bilingual in English/Spanish required
BA/BS in counseling, social work, or related field
2 years experience working with systems-involved youth and families
Valid drivers license and DMV clearance.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Strong computer literacy skills; ability to navigate MS Suite, including OneDrive and Teams.
Proof of citizenship or right to work in the United States
Criminal Record Clearance, Physical examination and TB clearance before hire.
Valid Driver's License and vehicle insurance
Provide own transportation, with and without clients, and be familiar with community resources.
