Our Substances Use Disorder Technician- FT provides support to professional staff in the areas of screening, evaluation and treatment. Work is performed under immediate supervision.

SOME OF THE RESPONSIBILTIES

• Provides direct client supervision, individually and in groups and ensures the safety and welfare of clients.
• Documents in clients’ records in a timely manner; documents in shift log and completes incident reports.
• Picks up/drops off laundry for clients; distribute supplies to clients.
• Conducts drug and alcohol screens; performs room searches.
• Conducts admission searches, completes admission documentation and wash & dry laundry as needed.
• Transports clients, conducts store runs, picks up laundry and other similar activities as needed.
• Checks security of the grounds and building.
• Monitors clients' vital signs and administers client medications.
• Performs clerical tasks such as making copies and filing.
• Cleans common areas and clients’ rooms, as needed.
• When assigned to Detox, assesses clients for withdrawal symptoms; completes client’s assessments, treatment plans and other health record documentation; stocks cabinets and refrigerator with needed supplies.
• When assigned to Admissions, maintains bed utilization record; acts as liaison between client, referring agency, and the program; completes admission documentation; admits clients and assigns beds.
• Provides lectures and education on recovery.
• Answers phones and routes messages.
• May fill in for clinicians in their absence and facilitates various groups as needed.
• Monitors facility maintenance.
• Cooks and serves meals in absence of cook.
• Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Some knowledge of the practices and techniques of drug abuse, prevention, treatment or rehabilitation.
• Some knowledge of community orientation towards substance abuse problems.
• Some knowledge of casework methods, drug abuse and substance abuse control practices.
• Ability to conduct interviews and analyze attitudes and behavior problems objectively.
• Ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing;
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, clients and their families, individually and in groups.
• Knowledge of MS Office, to include Word and Excel.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• 3 years of experience with substance disorders.
• Valid Virginia driver’s license
• Employment with Encompass Community Supports is contingent upon the successful completion of our background check process (criminal, DMV, education, drug screening, reference check, DSS, OIG and SAM).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:

• Spanish speaking is a plus.
