Our Substances Use Disorder Technician- FT provides support to professional staff in the areas of screening, evaluation and treatment. Work is performed under immediate supervision.
SOME OF THE RESPONSIBILTIES
- Provides direct client supervision, individually and in groups and ensures the safety and welfare of clients.
- Documents in clients’ records in a timely manner; documents in shift log and completes incident reports.
- Picks up/drops off laundry for clients; distribute supplies to clients.
- Conducts drug and alcohol screens; performs room searches.
- Conducts admission searches, completes admission documentation and wash & dry laundry as needed.
- Transports clients, conducts store runs, picks up laundry and other similar activities as needed.
- Checks security of the grounds and building.
- Monitors clients' vital signs and administers client medications.
- Performs clerical tasks such as making copies and filing.
- Cleans common areas and clients’ rooms, as needed.
- When assigned to Detox, assesses clients for withdrawal symptoms; completes client’s assessments, treatment plans and other health record documentation; stocks cabinets and refrigerator with needed supplies.
- When assigned to Admissions, maintains bed utilization record; acts as liaison between client, referring agency, and the program; completes admission documentation; admits clients and assigns beds.
- Provides lectures and education on recovery.
- Answers phones and routes messages.
- May fill in for clinicians in their absence and facilitates various groups as needed.
- Monitors facility maintenance.
- Cooks and serves meals in absence of cook.
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Some knowledge of the practices and techniques of drug abuse, prevention, treatment or rehabilitation.
- Some knowledge of community orientation towards substance abuse problems.
- Some knowledge of casework methods, drug abuse and substance abuse control practices.
- Ability to conduct interviews and analyze attitudes and behavior problems objectively.
- Ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, clients and their families, individually and in groups.
- Knowledge of MS Office, to include Word and Excel.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 3 years of experience with substance disorders.
- Valid Virginia driver’s license
- Employment with Encompass Community Supports is contingent upon the successful completion of our background check process (criminal, DMV, education, drug screening, reference check, DSS, OIG and SAM).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:
- Spanish speaking is a plus.
