What are the responsibilities and job description for the Entry-Level Nurse position at Encompass Health?
We are excited to offer an opportunity for an Entry-Level Nurse to grow and develop within our healthcare team while preparing to pass the NCLEX and transition into a Registered Nurse role.
The Entry-Level Nurse will have the following responsibilities :
Deliver direct patient care activities under the close supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Learn to operate a variety of essential medical devices.
Gain knowledge about various disease processes.
Collaborate with nurses, assistants, physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
Enhance clinical knowledge and skills through hands-on experience.
Familiarize yourself with the hospital environment.
Obtain practical exposure to nursing procedures and patient care activities.
Support RNs in completing tasks that enhance patient care efforts.
Complete assigned patient care activities while striving for excellent patient satisfaction and outcomes.
Follow guidelines set by the RN for managing assigned patients according to hospital protocols.
Qualifications :
License or Certification : Must hold a current CPR certification.
Education and Experience : Completion of a recognized RN program and eligibility to sit for the NCLEX. Candidate must take the NCLEX within six months of achieving Graduate Nurse status.
Machines and Equipment Used :
Common office equipment including telephone, copy machine, fax machine, calculator, and computer.
Medical equipment as specified in the Competency check-off list.
Physical Requirements :
Good visual acuity and effective communication capabilities.
Ability to lift, lower, push, pull, and retrieve items weighing a minimum of 30 pounds, including medical supplies and equipment, as well as assist in patient transfers and repositioning.
Capability to endure prolonged periods of standing and walking.
Ability to reach, stoop, bend, kneel, and crouch as required for patient care and equipment management.
Skills and Abilities :
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Competency in coordinating, observing, making decisions, and adhering to deadlines with attention to detail.
Capacity to work independently without constant oversight.
Prohibited from performing tasks not identified in this description or not verified through competency checklists.
Restricted from administering medications in any form.
Permitted to document in the medical records and assist the nurse with data collection and documentation when competencies are met.
Environmental Conditions :
Work in a controlled indoor environment; occasional exposure to outdoor conditions.
Possible exposure to blood and body fluids.
Handicapped accessible facility.
Ability to perform under stressful situations may be necessary at times.
Proficiency Standards :
Must maintain regular, reliable attendance and punctuality.
Adhere to the hospital and department dress code, including wearing an ID badge.
Willingness to work weekends, evenings, nights, and holidays as needed to meet operational demands.
Available to assist during disaster situations and remain after scheduled shifts if required.
