Position Summary : Performs quality CT examination to assist the physician in diagnosis and treatment of the patient. Evaluates images in accordance with professional practice standards. Participates in quality assurance activities and continuing education. Maintains appropriate credentials related to clinical practice.
Position Accountabilities :
- Collects pertinent data about the patient and procedure to provide appropriate CT imaging.
- Confirms patient identification and pregnancy status when appropriate.
- Performs CT and radiographic examinations using professional judgement and discretion.
- Demonstrates complete working knowledge of all CT equipment within the department.
- Determines appropriate use of shielding devices and other accessory devices.
- Administers first aid or provides life support in emergency situations.
- Monitors the patient's physical and mental state during the procedure.
- Practices infection control, prevents cross-contamination to patients and instruments
- Provides necessary information concerning patient history, chief complaints, and symptoms to aid in patient diagnosis.
- Recognizes emergency situations, initiate code procedures, administer first aid / CPR as necessary.
- Maintains current ACLS certification. Has established proper IV certification.
- Operates CT and imaging equipment, performs accurate patient positioning, and calculates correct exposure factors.
- Documents patient data, procedures, and relevant information as determined by practice standards.
- Evaluates CT images for technical image quality.
- Produces additional images as needed to provide appropriate outcome.
- Performs and documents quality assurance activities based on established quality protocols.
- Provides health care services with respect for patient's dignity and age-specific needs.
- Adheres to accepted standards, policies, and procedures adopted by the profession and regulated by law.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- Prepare and administer contrast media; ie. Orally, IV, or rectally.
- Performs proper charging in the EMR for examinations performed
- Understands how to properly complete orders in the EMR once the report is in the chart
Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
