Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Senior COBOL Tester with a strong background in mainframe testing. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in testing COBOL applications, including batch and online processes, using JCL, CICS, and DB2. The role involves working in a complex mainframe environment, designing and executing test cases, debugging issues, and ensuring system reliability and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough testing of COBOL applications in a mainframe environment.
- Develop, execute, and maintain test cases, test plans, and test scripts.
- Identify, document, and track defects, ensuring timely resolution.
- Collaborate with development teams and business stakeholders to validate system functionality.
- Perform regression, system integration, functional, and user acceptance testing.
- Debug COBOL applications using Expeditor and other mainframe tools.
- Manage code deployments and version control using Changeman.
- Work with batch job scheduling and data flow within the mainframe environment.
- Analyze system behavior and troubleshoot issues in a complex, legacy environment.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Mainframe Fundamentals:
- Strong experience with z/OS Operating System.
- Proficiency in JCL (writing and executing).
- Solid understanding of COBOL programming fundamentals.
- Experience with CICS for online transaction processing.
- Proficient in using TSO/ISPF for data management and debugging.
- Experience with VSAM (Virtual Storage Access Method).
Database Management:
- Strong experience with DB2 data manipulation and querying on mainframe databases.
Testing Techniques and Tools:
- Hands-on experience with Expeditor for debugging COBOL programs.
- Experience with Changeman for version control and code deployment.
- Test case design, execution, and reporting.
- Experience with data-driven testing, functional testing, and regression testing.
Other Relevant Skills:
- Batch job scheduling and execution.
- Strong understanding of mainframe architecture and data flow.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a complex and legacy system environment.
