What are the responsibilities and job description for the CLASS A CDL DRIVER position at Encore Dredging Partners?
We are seeking a safety conscious, experienced Class A CDL Driver to join our team based out of Port Lavaca, Texas. The driver will be expected to transport parts from and to Port Lavaca to various locations, including out of state locations. The driver is expected to live within 30 miles to Port Lavaca, TX.
The typical schedule is Monday-Friday, 7AM to 5PM. However, this position requires traveling and transporting parts outside of these hours, including on-call weekends.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate vehicle safely within DOT regulations that govern safe driving, hours of service, inspection, maintenance, and transportation
- The Driver will assist in delivering and transporting various supplies and parts to project sites. The Driver will also assist in the transportation of crew as needed.
- Meet or exceed the medical standards of the U.S. Dept. of Transportation and satisfactorily pass a drug test and alcohol test.
- Perform pre-trip inspections of vehicles before beginning trip. Ensuring that products loaded onto trailer are stable and will not shift during transit and delivery. As needed, the driver will be responsible for adjusting load securement and load distribution on the truck.
- Operates tablets/phones to record information regarding deliveries and to begin navigation.
- Must be able to be away from home for overnight stay and transport.

Essential Functions (This is not all-inclusive)
• Upholds the Company’s commitment to an injury-free workplace; leads and models safe work practices. Follows all safety rules and regulations as well as all company policies and procedures
• Works safely around machinery; observes and instructs others in proper equipment use; uses/wears all required PPE
• Performs inspections of the tow prior to transportation
• Maintains a logging device and tracks fuel receipts
• Identifies hazards and implements best safe practices relating to towing and driving
• Performs other duties as requested
Minimum Requirements
• Ability to read, write, comprehend and communicate in English. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Class A Commercial Drivers License required along with acceptable and pre-approved driving record and MVR
• Attentive to detail and alert at all times to ensure safety
• Able to receive and follow instructions and communicate with co-workers
• Must be able to maintain the requirements of Class CDL, including driving records and physical requirements
• Ability to meet physical requirements of the position as outlined in the Functional Job Description
• Must be able to successfully pass all pre-employment screening (drug test, fit test) in addition to random drug and alcohol testing
Compensation
- Non-Exempt, FLSA
- $26.00 to $28.00 Hourly Rate
- Meal per diem for overnight and away travel
