Responsibilities:

Follow established protocols and procedures to collect specimens such as blood, urine, saliva, tissue, or other bodily fluids.
Ensure proper identification of patients and specimens, accurately labeling each sample with patient information and other required details
Verify the integrity and quality of specimens, taking appropriate measures to maintain sample integrity during collection, handling, and transportation
Maintain cleanliness and sterility in specimen collection areas, adhering to infection control protocols to minimize the risk of contamination
Collaborate with healthcare professionals, laboratory staff, and other team members to coordinate specimen collection, processing, and delivery of results
Document specimen collection activities accurately and promptly, maintaining detailed records for traceability and quality assurance purposes
Handle specimens safely and dispose of biohazardous materials according to regulatory guidelines and institutional policies
Stay updated on relevant industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to specimen collection and handling
Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills in specimen collection techniques and practices.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; or currently in high school (interns); additional certification or training in phlebotomy or specimen collection preferred
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standardized procedures and protocols accurately
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals
Demonstrated ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
