What are the responsibilities and job description for the Studio Program Director / Instructor position at Encore Studio of Dance, Tumbling, Music & Theatre?
Our premier performing arts school in the New Orleans area is growing! We're seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as a Studio Program Director / Teacher.
You'll be working with the studio owner and office manager to create new programs and events (competition team, after-school program, holiday performance, etc...), find / create / implement curriculum, manage teaching staff, as well as teach and/or sub for a handful of classes in one or more of these disciplines:
Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Musical Theater, Tumbling, Piano, Voice
Hours for the director position are flexible, but teacher hours for our weekly classes run weekday afternoons/evenings, and Saturday mornings. Teaching schedule will vary depending on which classes you teach.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
We are looking for a clever, creative, personable, tech-savvy, smart-working and detail-oriented star to join our team. Youʼll already be passionate about the performing arts and delivering an outstanding experience to our students and families, as well as being excited to work on growing the business with new programs. Potential for bonuses and percentage sharing through new programs and events like teams, bringing in guest teachers, creating performance opportunities, etc.
THE DAY TO DAY – WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Programming
- Work with studio owner and office manager to research / coordinate / implement / improve new and existing programs (examples would be: curriculum, off-site after-school programs, daytime home-school dance program, musical theatre competition team, Disney performance trip, holiday performance, assistant training, retirement home performance, recital, summer camp planning, bring-a-friend weeks, staff meetings, team building events, etc…)
- Frequently meet with teaching staff to address any issues, ensure consistency between classes taught by different instructors, monitor that instructors are following weekly lesson plans, ensure appropriate progression of students from level to level and overall success of the program, classroom preparation
- First Impressions / Greet new potential students/families
- Teach / sub some weekly classes
- Gather photos and videos for social media
- Organization & Administration using online tools (Google Suite, etc...)
IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE
- Experience teaching your discipline(s)
- Work well with children
- Reliable transportation
- Knowledge and experience choreographing dance pieces for performance
- You must be at least an 8 out of 10 when it comes to loving and understanding technology.
- Self-Motivated and Excellent Direction-Taker - You know how to prioritize the most important tasks (at times with minimal guidance), and how to think on your feet. At the same time, you pride yourself in your ability to take direction and deliver the desired result.
- Excellent Communication Skills - You understand the nuances of email communication, and can handle even the most challenging situations with professionalism and warmth. You're also committed to keeping your team “in the know” about your progress. (No one has to ever chase you down!)
- Excellent Grammar and Punctuation - You pride yourself on catching every typo!
- Deadline-Obsessed and Detail-Oriented - You love doing tasks on time, and checking them off your checklist! In fact, you are one of those people who don't understand how some people can be so disorganized and tardy. Responding to emails with a sense of urgency and care is a source of pride.
- Personal Responsibility - If you make a mistake, you take 100% responsibility and fast action to remedy the situation. We feel that mistakes are opportunities to learn and grow if they are dealt with correctly.

ABOUT ENCORE STUDIO
Led by Artistic Director Kelly Fouchi, Encore Studio has led one of the premier performing arts programs in the New Orleans area for 20 years. Families come to us for our low-stress, professional studio environment, our no-”over the top” frills end-of-year concert, and the opportunities children have to perform in the community through Rivertown Theaters Mainstage and Children's Programs.

Pay: $38,000.00 - $43,000.00 per year
