What are the responsibilities and job description for the Peer Specialist - Forensic ACT Team position at Endeavor Health Services?
Endeavor Health Services is looking for a full-time, highly motivated Peer Specialist to join our Forensic ACT team. As a Peer Specialist, you will provide direct services and support to our agency and its clients. You will be responsible for creating a safe and supportive environment for our clients, as well as providing peer-to-peer counseling, educational, and advocacy services. You will also be instrumental in building strong relationships with our clients, collaborating with other members of the team, and advocating for our clients in the community. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Meet with individuals in the community or in clinic to help provide support and advocacy.
- Attend conferences and meetings with individuals, to assist them in accessing services.
- Assist staff, family, and individuals in identifying problems that prevent them from accessing services.
- Work with the team to help develop alternatives to barriers.
- Support individuals in navigating and linking with services.
- Develop and implement activities to involve individuals and their supports.
- Facilitate support groups for peers.
- Ensure that all required forms and documentation are completed.
- Willing and capable of working with clients of different cultural backgrounds.
- Willing to learn, articulate, and clarify the specialist’s personal values, stereotypes, and biases about their own background and potential impact related to relationship in working with individuals from different backgrounds.
- Assist in obtaining input and feedback from individual to determine needs, satisfaction, etc.
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with all agency policies, procedures and governmental regulations including, but not limited to HIPAA.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Have completed, or must complete within six (6) months of hire, the Peer Advocate training.
- A current or former recipient of services to assist in recovery.
- Must have a high school diploma or GED
- Must have a valid NYS driver license and reliable transportation
- Must possess the knowledge, desire, and skills to advocate for the needs of individuals and their families.
- Must have knowledge of community resources, the ability to communicate well with others, and network with other organizations.

Salary range- $17.60 - $22.00/per hour depending on education/experience and certification.
