In this role, you will be responsible for verifying patient insurance coverage and ensuring that all necessary information is accurately documented. You will play a crucial role in facilitating smooth operations within our medical office and ensuring that patients receive the care they need without delays due to insurance issues.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough verification of patient insurance coverage prior to appointments.
- Review medical records to ensure insurance referrals are in place if necessary.
- Utilize knowledge of ICD-10 coding systems to assist in the verification process.
- Communicate effectively with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers to resolve any discrepancies or issues.
- Maintain accurate records of all verification activities and updates in the medical office system.
- Prepare patients for upcoming visits with fully informing patients about financial responsibilities at the time of service.
- Familiar with details of how co-pays, deductibles, and co-insurance work within most insurance plans.
Requirements
- At least one year insurance experience in an office environment, within a medical setting.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and coding systems, including ICD-10.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Proficient in handling medical records and understanding insurance policies related to healthcare services.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with patients and insurance representatives.
