What is the role about?
This role supports the critical business functions of the organization by providing legal guidance and expertise. This position will have a main role in providing legal advice to multiple affiliates in areas of significant company impact, in general business transactions and labor and employment matters, and in the formulation of corporate strategy; will assist with maintaining oversight responsibility in law related areas of company impact, involvement in policy and corporate compliance matters, and will provide risk management assessments and recommendations to further the business objectives.
Which tasks will you perform?
- Draft necessary legal documents and develop conclusions and recommendations.
- Assist clients in addressing situations of legal exposure or risk; understand overall business risk tolerance and consider it in the context of risk management strategies and actions.
- Create practical, creative, and effective solutions to legal issues.
- Take the lead role in negotiations, as necessary. Understand the business client's position and needs. Consider the long-term business and strategic consequences of possible outcomes.
- Deliver difficult messages or news; or challenge the client when necessary; respond to client challenges to advise directly and effectively.
- Establish a wide network of relationships; build rapport with associates at all levels within the General Counsel department and the business client.
