Essential Functions
- Create detailed 2D and 3D technical drawings, schematics, and models for products, parts, and assemblies.
- Work closely with engineers and product designers to understand design specifications and provide technical drafting support throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Modify existing drawings based on feedback, new requirements, or changes in design. Ensure revisions are accurately reflected in all project documents.
- Prepare drawings that meet industry standards, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and completeness for manufacturing or production teams.
- Maintain an organized system for managing drawings, revisions, and related documentation. Ensure that all drawings are properly cataloged and easily accessible.
- Follow company drafting standards and ensure designs comply with industry-specific standards and regulations.
- Review drawings for potential issues, inaccuracies, or missing information before submission to engineering or production teams.
- Use advanced CAD software to create 3D models, assemblies, and simulations to visualize how parts and assemblies will fit together.
- Assist in the preparation of prototype models, test configurations, and support prototype testing as required.
- All other duties as assigned
- Working knowledge of SolidWorks CAD software.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate and precise drawings.
- Good written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively with engineers, designers, and other team members.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with drafting standards such as ASTM, ASME, ISO, or other industry-specific guidelines is beneficial.
- Basic understanding of mechanical or electrical engineering principles is beneficial, as is knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and product testing.
- Associate’s degree or technical certification in CAD drafting, mechanical engineering, or a related field. A Bachelor’s degree is a plus.
- 2 years of experience in CAD drafting or engineering design, preferably in a related industry (e.g., manufacturing, construction, aerospace, automotive).
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, Revit, or similar). Familiarity with 3D modeling software is highly preferred.
