Overview
To manage an assigned sales territory by developing new and existing accounts with the focus on increasing VMI programs. Key responsibilities will focus on the sales process, personnel management and ongoing product training.
Primary Job Function:
Works in conjunction with inside sales team, to cultivate and maintains favorable contact with key and major accounts of the organization for the sale of products and services in an assigned area or territory. The primary area of focus West and Middle TN. Work location would primarily be on road with possibly one office day per week at the LaVergne Branch.
This individual will also aggressively solicit new customers and determine if those customers fit into AFI corporate strategies and goals. Communicates directly with new and existing customers or to explain features and merits of products or services AFI provides, particularly with AFI’s innovated VMI programs. A continued focus on key product lines such as PEM , Southco, Panduit, Heyco to name a few. Fasteners represent the majority of AFI’s sales along with specials to print.

Duties
- Developing and implementing long-term sales goals
- Identifying potential and current accounts as Opportunities for targeted growth
- Directing staffing, training and performance evaluations
- Representing AFI at industry, vendor and/or trade association meetings
- Preparing periodic sales reports
- Monitoring and evaluating the activities and products of the competition
- Work closely to maintain vendor /supplier relationships by making technical calls with suppliers.
- All sales activity needs to be communicated and entered into “Contact Management” for visibility by team members and management
- Submits time and expense reports to management within stated time periods
- Performs additional duties as requested
- Exempt employees are expected to work whatever hours are necessary to accomplish the goals and deliverables of their exempt position as out lined by management.
Skills
- Proven experience in direct sales, preferably in technology or B2B environments
- Strong lead generation skills with the ability to identify potential clients and opportunities
- Effective territory management capabilities, ensuring coverage of all potential customers
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for building rapport with clients
- Ability to analyze data and market conditions to make informed decisions
- Proficiency in conducting engaging product demonstrations that resonate with diverse audiences
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple accounts simultaneously
