Position: Design Engineering Manager
Location: Irvington, AL
We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Design Engineering Manager to lead our Endurance team. Reporting to the Endurance Operations Manager, you will oversee a team dedicated to engineering and designing cutting-edge heavy equipment for the forest products industry and beyond.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and motivate the Engineering/Design/Drafting team
- Plan and schedule project deliverables from initial sales drawings and specifications
- Maintain and manage the engineering schedule for multiple projects
- Collaborate with sales, project management, and leadership to define project scope
- Oversee the creation of layout and general arrangement drawings
- Validate sales specifications through detailed calculations, selecting power transmission components, and sizing steel members
- Develop detailed design packages for equipment fabrication
- Coordinate design reviews and approval processes with customers
- Conduct quality control checks, including drawing package reviews and 3D model evaluations
- Work with the shop supervisor to drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Provide technical guidance and on-site support during client installations and startups
- Other duties as requested,
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- 10 years of industrial experience in heavy equipment and machinery design
- 5 years of leadership and team management experience
- Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing, fabrication, and machining practices
- Expertise in material handling systems and mechanical power transmission components
- Proficiency in 2D AutoCAD and general knowledge of 3D design software (Inventor or SolidWorks)
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to movitave and lead a diverse team
- Ability to work independently and manage virtual teams
