SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Under the direction of the Director of Engineering, this position will be responsible for developing engineering designs for oil field equipment and associated technologies to meet customer requirements. This job requires the use of engineering judgment, and the application of standard engineering techniques to develop applications for customers’ use. Understanding/Enjoyment of Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) and Materials Science are recommended for this job application. A background in Electric Submersible Pumps and the CFD associated with the units would also be helpful for this application.
SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Following standard techniques and procedures to develop designs for oilfields equipment or associated technologies. Determine the proper application of such technologies and determine material to be used in the application and make necessary engineering calculations.
- Aid in the transition of a product from development into production with emphasis on the bills of material.
- Analyze assembly design and component part design, prepare drawings, sketches and specifications required to engineer or modify existing company products.
- Determine engineering designs for customer and build prototype models for test and evaluation.
- Perform and monitor the testing of equipment designs.
- Evaluate customer requirements, research the necessary data, and determine cost effective materials of construction.
- Provide guidance to designer or drafter assigned to complete layout and detail drawings.
- Provide assistance and/or guidance to ELS Manufacturing personnel.
- Communicate orally and in writing with customers, sales and company personnel and vendors providing counseling, recommendations, and technical assistance.
- Meet with customers in plant or at customer’s site to discuss, analyze and resolve field problems.
- Analyze, evaluate, and rectify failures internally and externally.
- Initiate new and revised current standard component parts lists, typical drawings, and master sheets.
- Prepare material and other relevant product specifications for internal and external use.
- Additional duties and responsibilities will vary based upon departmental needs.
- Comply with and ensure department compliance with Company health, safety, and environmental policies.
- Comply with all applicable U.S. export control and security regulations.
- Other duties as required.
Requirements
EHS REQUIREMENTS:

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Education/Training: BS in Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering with 5 to 15 years of years working within an engineering group specializing in either Materials Science or CAD.
- Experience: Requires five to fifteen years of work experience to include design engineering and manufacturing methods specific to electric submersible pumps to obtain sufficient knowledge and background to assume responsibilities involved.
- Knowledge/Skills: Working knowledge of personal computing, SolidWorks and PDM with an Interest in Materials Science preferred.
- Travel Requirements: Up to 30%
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to sit for extend periods of time; a minimum of 2 hours.
- Must be able to maneuver to all areas of the office.
- Must be able to maneuver to all areas of a pump shop or warehouse, and to all allowable areas of a well site or other job sites.
- Must be able to safely mount and dismount from the back of a truck, and bend, reach, kneel, twist, and grip items while working at area.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds and carry up to 10 pounds.
- Must be able to bend, reach, kneel, twist, and grip items while working at assigned desk area.
- Must have the manual dexterity and coordination to operate office equipment, including a 10-key adding machine, PC computers, facsimile machine, and photo copier.
- Must be able to work at a fast pace.
- Must be able to simultaneously manage several objectives and reassign priorities.
- Must be able to tolerate changing priorities, and complete assignments despite frequent interruptions.
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
- Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues.
- Must be able to drive an automobile.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work environment is typically considered within an ELS location during normal or extended business hours. Work environment may also include meeting venues or other locations as required.
