Die Repair - 1st Shift

Job Summary

Seeking a skilled and dedicated Die Repair Technician to join our team in the automotive industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for repairing, rebuilding, and maintaining casting and trim dies to meet original specifications. The role involves operating a variety of machines and equipment essential to the die repair process.. The technician will work closely with team leaders and supervisors, ensuring quality repairs, troubleshooting production tooling problems, and maintaining a safe and organized work environment.

Principal Responsibilities

• Repair, rebuild, and maintain casting and trim dies according to original specifications.
• Operate and manage equipment such as lift trucks, die cleaning machines, and cranes.
• Disassemble, clean, repair, and reassemble dies, replacing segments, cores, and details from blueprints.
• Polish, grind, or draw die cavity surfaces using necessary tools.
• Perform repairs and adjustments while dies are mounted on machines, correcting dimensional issues and changing components such as cores and trim punches.
• Execute welding tasks in both the foundry and Die Repair Department.
• Troubleshoot and resolve tooling problems, performing necessary repairs and maintenance.
• Maintain accurate records, including die work orders, pictorials, and signoffs.
• Ensure a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
• Train new employees and assist with onboarding processes.
• Perform any additional duties as assigned by supervision.
  
  

Skills Required

• Proficiency in drawing, polishing, and grinding die cavity surfaces.
• Ability to build and replace segments, cores, and parts based on blueprints.
• Competency in welding duties, both in the foundry and Die Repair Department.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot tooling and die issues.
• Capability to train and mentor new employees.
  
  

Experience Required

• Up to 2 years of on-the-job training required for full proficiency in die repair or If you do not meet the minimum experience required, you must complete 2 years of on-the-job training to meet this requirement.
• Tool & Die Repair Journeyman papers are a plus but not required.
• Previous experience in die repair, machining, or a related field is beneficial.
  
  

Education Required

• An Associate’s Degree, trade or technical school certification, or journeyman certificate is preferred.
• Ability to perform complex tasks and solve technical problems in a manufacturing environment.
