Key Responsibilities
- Administer radiation therapy treatments to patients according to physician's prescriptions and treatment plans.
- Educate patients and their families about the radiation therapy process and ensure they are comfortable throughout the treatment.
- Collaborate with Radiation Oncologists, nurses, and other healthcare team members to ensure effective patient care.
- Maintain accurate treatment records and documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Monitor patients during therapy, ensuring their safety and addressing any concerns or discomfort.
- Work with medical equipment, ensuring proper calibration, maintenance, and safety procedures.
- Provide explanations of radiation therapy procedures to patients, medical staff, and the public.
- Support the smooth operation of the Radiation Oncology Department by assisting in any necessary tasks as needed.
- Adhere to infection control policies and protocols to ensure patient and staff safety.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) as a Radiation Therapist.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Knowledge of radiation therapy practices, including the safe and effective administration of radiation treatment.
- Ability to explain radiation therapy procedures to patients, their families, and other medical professionals.
- Prior experience in a Radiation Oncology Department is desirable, but not required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and team members.
- A professional, courteous, and self-motivated attitude, demonstrating the ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to receive and respond appropriately to constructive feedback.
- Willingness to participate in continuing education as prescribed by JCAHO and ARRT.
- Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
