- Provide direct nursing care, including first aid, emergency care, and chronic disease management (e.g., diabetes, asthma, epilepsy).
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and school policies.
- Develop and implement Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs) and Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) for students with specific medical needs.
- Conduct health screenings, such as vision, hearing, and scoliosis assessments, per state requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date student health records, immunization documentation, and medication administration logs in compliance with California Department of Education and public health regulations.
- Monitor and manage communicable diseases, ensuring appropriate response and reporting procedures.
- Provide guidance on infection control practices, including COVID-19 and other public health concerns.
- Work closely with teachers, counselors, and administrators to support student well-being.
- Educate students, families, and staff on health topics such as hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention.
- Serve as a liaison between the school, parents, and healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care.
- Develop and implement school-wide health policies, including protocols for medical emergencies and disaster preparedness.
- Train school staff on CPR, first aid, and the use of emergency medical equipment (e.g., EpiPens, AEDs).
- Respond to medical emergencies and provide crisis intervention when needed.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) or related field.
- Certification & Licensure:
- Valid California School Nurse Services Credential (Required).
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- Previous experience in school nursing, pediatrics, or public health preferred.
- Strong ability to assess, diagnose, and manage student health needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with students, families, and staff.
- Knowledge of state and federal health regulations affecting schools.
- Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively.
Salary : $74,000 - $130,000
