Job Description:
Endyna has an immediate full-time opening for a mid-level Occupational Safety Specialist. This position is part of a team on a Federal contract in Arlington, Virginia. This is a full-time position and requires 5 days in the office.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and maintain comprehensive safety programs for diverse work groups and disciplines. Work group disciplines include electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, mechanics and power plant operations, providing continuous safety oversight of plant employees and contractors for day-to-day operation and special projects.
- Analysis of positional work tasks and the hazards associated with those tasks.
- Identify occupational safety and health risks, analyze work tasks and hazards, and implement effective control measures.
- Know and implement OSHA general industry and construction regulations, other professional safety standards, and other elements of a world class safety organization and culture.
- Work in a Team environment for the updating of a broad range of safety policies.
- Deliver safety training on key topics, including Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection, Aerial Work Platform Operation, Hearing Conservation, Hot Work, HAZCOM, PPE, and Electrical Safety.
- Organize and lead Forklift Operator Training sessions for Facilities Services Division (FSD) and other serviced organizations.
- Organize, schedule, and chair safety meetings or designate appropriate leaders for such discussions.
- Analyze existing management mechanisms and styles, and influence the application of those mechanisms towards the goals of the safety management system (for example, performance evaluation systems, routine staff meetings held by others, existing inspection/monitoring systems developed by others).
- Create, maintain and communicate data on leading and trailing indicators of SMS effectiveness.
- Influence individual behavior at all organizational levels to foster a proactive safety culture.
- Review contractor Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA) Reports prior to contractors performing work
- Conduct and document accident investigations and corrective actions.
- Review and approve all Permit Required Confined Space Entries.
- Maintain confined space meters and equipment.
- Maintain Chemical Inventory.
- Assist with updating written health and safety policies, programs, procedures, and associated training materials.
- Submit administrative paperwork including timesheets, expense reports, field reports, etc. on a timely basis.
- Develop relationships with Client Representatives to better understand needs, convey confidence, and plan and complete field work.
Requirements
- Five (5) years directly related industry safety experience. Or three (3) years with a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or safety and health degree.
- Clear financial background and no criminal history.
- Having previously held a CAC and/or security clearance for government is a strong plus.
- Able to crawl, climb over obstacles, walk on uneven surfaces such as ramps, rooftops and able to climb ladders without assistance.
- Able to enter confined space or work on high-elevation task locations.
- Able to achieve Secret clearance if and when requested. DoD will sponsor if required.
