EnDyna is seeking an experienced Technical Writer and Editor to join our dynamic team. This hybrid position, based in McLean, VA, offers the flexibility of 3 days per week in the office. Candidates with government, environmental, and graphics experience are highly encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
- Gather, analyze, and compose complex technical information.
- Ensure the use of proper technical terminology.
- Translate technical information into clear, readable documents suitable for both technical and non-technical personnel.
- Determine the clearest and most logical way to present information and instructions for maximum reader comprehension.
- Write and edit technical content accordingly.
- Prepare or commission graphics and illustrations to enhance technical writing.
- Apply knowledge of government writing style guides (e.g.,Plain Language Guidelines,Federal Plain Language Guidelines, or agency-specific guidelines) to ensure compliance with official communication standards.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts, engineers, and project managers to create accurate and user-friendly documentation.
- Conduct thorough research to understand complex topics and convey them effectively to diverse audiences.
- Review and edit technical documents for consistency, clarity, and adherence to organizational standards.
- Check compliance withSection 508accessibility standards set by the federal government to ensure that documents are accessible to individuals with disabilities.
- Review and validate scripts for documents, pictures, videos, and training materials to maintain accuracy, consistency, and alignment with organizational goals.
- Utilize collaborative tools such asMicrosoft Teamsfor efficient communication, document sharing, and project coordination.
Qualifications:
- Strong written communication skills.
- Familiarity with federal acquisition procedures (if applicable).
- Ability to engage with technical and executive teams for content acquisition.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in using tools for technical writing and editing.
Preferred Experience:
- Previous experience in technical writing or editing roles.
- Knowledge of industry-specific terminology (e.g., technology, engineering, healthcare, etc.).
- Familiarity with government writing style guides.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Understanding of document version control and collaboration tools.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and version control systems (e.g., Git)
