The Opportunity:
The Eastern Region for Enel North America's Regulatory & Institutional Affairs Director team will primarily support Enel North America's Enel Green Power, Enel Trading and Enel X business and product lines to protect, optimize and advance the company's commercial and sustainability goals by representing and advocating for good federal and state policy, market design in the organized wholesale markets and with state regulations The successful candidate will have experience advocating before FERC, PJM, state legislatures and state regulatory bodies, including written and oral communication.
This is an exciting role covering wholesale energy markets, state regulatory and legislative advocacy and federal advocacy for one of the world's largest and most innovative clean energy companies. The role will focus primarily on covering the Eastern U. S., where Enel has a market presence, including at the federal level when necessary. This position requires direct advocacy or indirect advocacy through trade associations. The position will coordinate closely with the business lines to identify priority policy, regulatory or market concerns for the Eastern Region. Primary focus is on supporting policy development in support of renewable energy growth and in support of Enel's demand response business. The Director will also work closely with Eastern Regional trade associations to inform and direct advocacy. The role will include coverage of federal agencies on developing policy that affects renewable energy resources and demand response resources.
The Director, Regulatory & Institutional Affairs will report to the Head, Regulatory & Institutional Affairs, USA & Canada, Enel North America.
What You'll Do at Enel North America:
- Monitoring, participating in, and influencing priority stakeholder processes and rulemaking proceedings at Eastern Region organized markets on behalf of Enel's business priorities in the organized market;
- Monitoring, participating in and influencing, federal administrative, legislative and executive branches, as required;
- Monitoring, participating in and influencing state legislative processes, including testifying (orally or written) before legislative and executive branches of state government on behalf of Enel's business priorities in the state;
- Monitoring, participating and influencing, state regulation development at the state regulatory agencies on behalf of Enel's business priorities in the state;
- Cultivating external relationships with key decision makers and influential stakeholders in target states including but not limited to RTO/ISO leadership and staff, PUC Commissioners and staff, legislators, governors, utilities, consumer advocates, environmental groups, in conformance with state and Enel ethics policies;
- Identifying opportunities to facilitate relationship building between Enel senior executives/staff and Eastern Region leadership, where appropriate or requested
- Facilitating internal information sharing obtained directly or through external sources, such as trade associations, media, etc. with internal customers, communicating key market trends and providing insightful and timely research to relevant business lines to inform commercial strategy, and soliciting frequent updates from business lines on their commercial priorities
- Collaborating with and internal colleagues and leadership in developing Enel internal position development across business lines and markets
- Spearheading coalition building with external allies to advance Enel's priorities.
- Participate routinely in relevant trade association discussions. Identifying and pursuing opportunities for market, regulatory or legislative reforms that create new revenue or market opportunities for assets/investments
- Representing Enel and its interests before a broad range of markets, market participants, stakeholders, and policymakers in a professional and ethical manner.
- Helping build Enel's presence and reputation as a sophisticated and trustworthy participant in the regulatory arena
Who You Are:
- Previously demonstrated ability to take initiative and influence regulatory processes and/or other stakeholder processes to achieve organizational objectives
- Track record of collaboration and/or demonstrated ability to connect energy policy positions to commercial opportunities
- Excellent communication, written and presentation skills
- Able to work independently
- Able to work cross functionally with various groups within the company
- Able to travel within the Eastern Region

What Enel North America Offers You:
The hiring range for this position is $156,960.00 - $215,820.00 a year. For remote positions, this is based on a national average base pay for this role. For positions in California this range will be specific to the location in California. The actual range may vary based on the geographic location of the chosen candidate. For all positions, the base pay actually offered will take into account various factors, including internal equity and job-related knowledge, skills and experience.
