As an SMT Process Manager for the organization, you will manage the development improvement of the SMT process including its supporting processes. The SMT Process Manager coordinates the development of the SMT process and procedures, focused on improving quality and reliability, while lowering total costs.
Functions & Responsibilities
- You will coordinate the activities involved in the design, development, implementation and improvement of systems, processes and product assembly procedures concerned with SMT.
- You will provide planning, direction, and coordination for SMT process activities to ensure optimum use of workers, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- You will plan and establish SMT process engineering projects and follow up on performance against estimates.
- You will initiate cost reduction proposals related to the SMT process, compile appropriate decision-making information, make recommendations for action, implement and checks on results obtained.
- You will oversee the implementation of new SMT equipment and processes including identification, source selection, validation, manufacturing implementation and training.
- You will ensure active consultation with new product development and design transfer teams regarding SMT capabilities and issues related to design for manufacturability and assembly.
- You will assist in the preparation of product cost estimates.
- You will direct the technical training in manufacturing techniques, methods and processes provided to SMT manufacturing associates.
- You will actively maintain knowledge of new SMT manufacturing technologies, methods and techniques.
- You will assist with group personnel functions such as recruiting, hiring, and performance reviews.
- You will ensure compliance of company policies, procedures, and objectives regarding processes, initiatives, and projects.
Job Requirements
- You must have excellent software abilities: MS Office –proficiency required. Experience with Solidworks, Autocad and MS Project a plus.
- You must have the ability to manage self-directed on a day-to-day basis.
- You must have the ability to work in environments experiencing routine and rapid change.
- You must have excellent organization and decision-making skills.
- You must have strong attention to detail
- You must have a high level of energy and enthusiasm.
Educational Requirements
- B.S. or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
- 5-10 years of direct SMT process work experience required.
- SMTA Process Engineer Certification highly desirable.
- Experience implementing lean manufacturing and/or six sigma desirable.
