The Control Room Operator (Day Shift) is responsible for operating and overseeing the safe and efficient routine operations of the power plant facility and all related systems and equipment.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Ensure the overall safe and compliant operations of the RI LFG Genco facility (a combined cycle gas turbine power plant), consisting of various HMI control systems, four (4) Solar Taurus 60 gas turbines, a Dresser-Rand 10 MW full condensing steam turbine, heat recovery steam generators (HRSG's), cooling towers, chillers, air compressors, land fill gas compression and conditioning plant, gas flare and various related ancillary equipment.
- Ensure the overall safe and compliant operations of the RI LFG Genco Cat facility (a reciprocating internal combustion power plant), consisting of Four (4) Caterpillar reciprocating engines, chillers, air compressors, land fill gas compression and conditioning plant, gas flares and various related ancillary equipment.
- Ensure the day-to-day functions and requirements of Operations are conducted in a manner as required by various procedures and with good sound engineering practices.
- Operate the facility through an HMI or locally, monitor, inspect, start-up, shutdown ensure plant equipment is functioning as it should and required maintenance is noted.
- Assure all maintenance activities in the facility, including planned outage work, unplanned outage work, routine activities and contracted service work on plant equipment and systems are coordinated through operations and a sponsor is assigned to all contractor related activities.
- Ensure routine operational activities, inspections, operational parameters, water chemistry and various operational responsibilities are conducted and monitored as required and within the expected guidelines of a well operated facility.
- Provide relevant input in representing operational concerns and needs within operations and to various departments and others within the organization as appropriate.
- Operate and review operational data, readings, log-sheets, water testing / analyses related to water treatment, including wastewater treatment; and take appropriate action to ensure equipment and systems are operating within expected ranges, conditions and overall optimization needed for meeting plant specifications and expectations.
- Make use of PI and various operational data to help ensure optimization and efficiency of the plant from a granular and overall perspective.
- Assist in development and initial training of new Shift Ops Technicians, including the training of existing CRO (Shift Lead).
- Performs various housekeeping tasks to ensure a neat, clean, and safe work environment.
- Assist in promoting and providing a safe and healthy workplace for employees and contractors, including the adherence to and effective use of various personal protective equipment, systems, programs, policies, and procedures as developed and required by the company.
- Develop a good understanding of and ensure operational compliance with environmental and regulatory regulations, rules, and requirements, along with response roles to incidents.
- Assist with the inventory tracking and ordering of chemicals, gases, lubricants, etc., as needed for plant operations.
- The above is a general overview of duties and responsibilities, which is not meant to be all inclusive and subject to change as the facility's needs evolve and change.
- Collect all data and support weekly, monthly, semiannual, and annual compliance reporting. This will include inputting data into reports for plant manager review prior to submittal as well as collecting data for contractors required for compliance submittals.
- Perform Shared Analysis Management ("SAM") reporting from submittals to completions. Includes reviewing SAM requirements and contacting responsible parties for timely completion, making observations and inputting observation results into SAM such as Hazard hunts and Leadership verifications and work with Management on actions needed based on findings.
- Support the collection and filings of LOTO and site induction paperwork.
- Ensure contractor training is completed prior to issuing work permits.
- This individual will be the main operations support person for outage planning including work management and LOTO functions.
- Review drawings and update to allow for corrections to be made. Such tasks include SOP, PID and SWI / JSEA updates.
- This role will be the point of contact for all major project executions while normal operations commence.
- Conduct routine boiler chemistry.
- Conduct routine and detailed desulfurization system chemistry.
- Perform quarterly and annual wastewater sampling.
