This position reports to Energy Harbor corporate offices at the DOC (Akron, Ohio) and will serve as the engineering subject matter expert (SME) with regards to North American Electric Reliability Council (NERC) / Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Program and related activities for the Fleet Engineering department.
Responsibilities of this role include:
- Responsible for maintaining NERC Program Compliance and affiliated activities for both nuclear and fossil generation in accordance with required standards.
- Provides direct interface with JDEC Solutions (consultant working with Energy Harbor).
- Leads NERC Compliance Champions / Site Coordinators Monthly Compliance Meetings.
- Provides key interface between NERC - FERC and CIP/IT.
- Maintains JOA (Joint Ownership Agreements) and MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) documents for each site.
- Addresses potential compliance issues, reporting issues, violation responses and audit findings associated with the site and fleet NERC program.
- Issues/Responds to CRs as necessary for non-conforming NERC – FERC program items.
- Coordinates responses to NERC audits.
- Maintains NERC Program in accordance with NOP-ER-2101 Engineering Program Management.
- Arranges/leads the quarterly Energy Harbor Executive NERC Compliance Committee (ENCC) meeting.
- Revises routine program documentation as required and as needed.
- Responds to emerging NERC – FERC issues.
- Maintains knowledge of NERC – FERC standards.
- Attends industry meetings on NERC – FERC program attributes as necessary.
- Benchmarks other utility NERC – FERC program implementation documentation to improve/enhance program.
- Identifies (and provides as available) required NERC – FERC program training.
- Incorporates industry lessons learned to eliminate/mitigate potential compliance, reporting and violation issues.
Qualifications Include:
- Bachelors of Science (BS) Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university required.
- Minimum of 10 years of nuclear experience.
- Effective written and oral communications skills.
- Experience with utilization of outside contracted SME assistance
- Knowledge of nuclear and fossil operations.
- Previous NERC - FERC experience is preferred.
