Job Summary
The Buyer/Planner is responsible for managing inventory levels, procurement activities, and supply chain planning to ensure optimal stock levels while minimizing costs. This role combines strategic purchasing with demand planning to support production schedules and maintain efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor inventory levels and create replenishment plans to maintain optimal stock levels.
  • Coordinate with sales, quality, and warehouse teams to ensure alignment of supply with demand.
  • Source and procure materials, components, and supplies from qualified vendors.
  • Negotiate prices with suppliers to achieve cost savings.
  • Issue and track purchase orders, ensuring timely delivery of materials.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and evaluate supplier performance.
  • Maintain and monitor inventory control parameters (safety stock, reorder points, lead times).
  • Identify and implement cost-savings opportunities.
  • Monitor market conditions and price trends affecting procurement.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of materials available within our supply chain and marketplace
  • Ensure material pricing is accurate and consistent with the company's cost structure.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to identify sourcing requirements.
  • Review all material quotes to ensure price, price range, and payment terms are acceptable

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or related field preferred
  • 5 years of experience in the manufacturing or distribution industry
