Job Title: Home Energy Specialist

Salary: $90,000 - $120,000 - Uncapped Commission
Job Summary:
We are a fast-growing startup seeking a motivated, passionate and knowledgeable Home Energy Specialist to join our team and support the Mass Save Program. As a Home Energy Specialist, you will play a key role in helping Massachusetts residents reduce energy consumption, save money, and improve the comfort of their homes through energy efficiency solutions. This position involves performing home energy assessments, recommending energy-saving upgrades, and assisting customers in navigating the available rebates and incentives offered through the Mass Save Program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Home Energy Assessments: Conduct in-home energy assessments for residential customers, identifying energy inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement, including heating, cooling, insulation, lighting, and appliances. Assisting with the completion of energy assessments and ensuring customers take full advantage of rebates and incentives.
- Customer Education: Educate homeowners on the benefits of energy efficiency, the environmental impact of energy consumption, and the various energy-saving options available.
- Recommendations: Provide tailored recommendations for energy-saving measures, including insulation, air sealing, and HVAC system upgrades, while explaining potential cost savings and environmental benefits.
- Technical Reports: Prepare and submit detailed energy audit reports, including assessments of energy usage and recommendations for efficiency improvements.
- Customer Service: Provide ongoing support to customers, answering questions related to energy-saving measures, rebates, and the Mass Save Program.
- Collaboration: Work closely with contractors, vendors, and the energy efficiency team to ensure proper installation and follow-up on energy-saving improvements.
Requirements:
- Experience: At least 1-2 years of experience in energy efficiency, residential energy auditing, or a related field is preferred. Experience with the Mass Save Program is a plus.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of home energy systems, energy efficiency measures, and best practices for residential energy conservation.
- Certification: Relevant certifications such as BPI (Building Performance Institute) is preferred or must be obtained within the first six months of employment.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to homeowners in an easy-to-understand manner.
- Customer Service Orientation: Ability to build rapport with homeowners and provide exceptional customer service.
- Problem Solving: Ability to assess complex home energy situations and propose practical, cost-effective solutions.
- Technology Skills: Proficiency in using energy assessment tools and software, and basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Valid Driver’s License: Must have a valid Massachusetts driver’s license and reliable transportation to conduct field visits.
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to crawl in crawlspaces with 2 feet or more of headroom & attic joists with 3 feet or more of headroom. The ability to crouch for extended periods of time in an attic or basement. Must also be able and willing to use power tools.
