Fabricator/Fitter

Job Description: Welder duties and responsibilities include reading blueprints, cutting materials, and welding. This position does require some travel to assist with installs and in-field welding to secure final connections.

Weld Technician Job Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures
• Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements
• Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements)
• Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded
• Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces
• Weld components using dual shield/wire feed welding process or GTAW process in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)
• Layout appropriate fitup for proper joint configurations.
• Clean and spot check welds as completed to achieve quality welds
• Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety (Absolutely no cords stretched across shop)
• Document potential workplace hazards and measures taken to eliminate them, immediately report to supervisor

Physical & Other Requirements

• Speak and understand English
• Pass dual shield weld test in flat/vertical up positions
• Pass Stainless Steel TIG test
• Exhibits safe operation practices with grinders and various hand tools
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
• Knowledge of relative safety standards
• Deftness and attention to detail
• Experience reading blueprints is a bonus
• Experience welding mild steel, certification preferred
• Ability to obtain forklift operator
