Purpose Of Role

Reporting to the Director Engineering, the Electrical Engineering Lead is responsible for ensuring the engineering efforts for the power transmission and distribution system for the Copper World Project. The EE Lead will review the designs for the high voltage transmission line, medium and distribution design. Additionally, the EE Lead will coordinate with other disciplines to ensure a proper electrical design. EE Lead will be expected to be involved in inspections for the fabrication and installation of equipment and during the construction and commissioning of the plant at the Copper World Project site.

Roll Accountabilities

  • Coordinate different consultants/contracts to provide one seamless design as well as to adhere to safety and environmental requirements as an integrated project team.
  • Oversee all electrical construction activities associated with the Project for the entire project cycle, from project commencement to project closure
  • Implement project electrical engineering construction plans and requirements in accordance with Company’s needs through contract scoping, project start up, execution and completion
  • Conducts daily field inspections of installed electrical facilities and equipment for the project, to include facility electrical machinery and equipment, transformers, motor control centers, switchgear, cable and conduit installations, emergency power equipment, lighting and grounding installations, power distribution systems, interconnect wiring installations, PLC system installation, and other electrically powered equipment or systems at the project
  • Coordinates daily electrical construction inspection work with electrical inspectors
  • Resolve any electrical questions, design discrepancies, or field conditions that may arise on the project
  • Advise and coordinate the work of electrical contractors, including proper compliance with safety and training requirements
  • Directs and monitors quality assurance of electrical construction activities at the project
  • Assist in the operational start-up and testing of the plant facilities
  • Lead health, safety, and environmental compliance program activities for all electrical construction at the project
  • Select, manage, and orient the electrical engineering team to meet Company’s financial and schedule goals
  • Provide hands-on electrical engineering construction management and actively manage electrical engineering plans for the project to ensure that the project goals and objectives are achieved within the project timeframes and guidelines established by the Company
  • Manage overall change control processes related to electrical construction aspects of the project
  • Manage electrical construction quality assurance aspects of the project
  • Manage overall electrical construction project dependencies and ensure deliverables stay on time and on-budget
  • Manage overall electrical construction risk identification and mitigation process through interaction with project constituents and stakeholders
  • Identify on a timely basis all electrical construction activity barrier and identify strategies and approaches to overcome these barriers
  • Complete and manage electrical engineering activities using an industry standard process and approach to ensure a consistent approach to project completion
  • Develops and implements company policies and procedures to facilitate corporate objectives
  • Ensure that the contractor’s work is completed according to plans, standards, and specifications prior to approving work and progress payments
  • Maintains compliance with all company standards and all federal, state, and local laws and regulations
  • Reviews and is responsible for all mechanical construction related activities to determine the progress of the work, efficiency of operations, and control of costs and expenditures
  • Coordinates electrical construction activities with all Project Managers and other members of project team
  • Prepares and submits reports to Project Manager as required, and others as needed.
  • Understands modeling software for electrical analysis such as etap.

Minimum Qualifications And Education

  • Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in electrical engineering from a four-year accredited college or university.
  • Ten (10) plus years of experience of mining project experience in working with utility systems and/or companies
  • Working knowledge of the Electrical Code, MSHA regulations, and other federal and state requirements.

  • Experience with integrated project teams
  • Experience in contract negotiations with utility companies

Employees must be able to perform the physical functions of operating a motor vehicle, including use of eyes, ears, arms, hands, legs, and feet. The employee must be able to prove that he/she has a current, valid driver's license.
