Position Overview
KODA Technologies is seeking a Software Systems Integration Engineer to support the Mars Ascent Vehicle Integrated System (MAVIS) Program in Huntsville, Alabama. This role is responsible for integrating, verifying, and validating software systems, ensuring seamless interaction between flight software, ground systems, avionics, and simulation environments. The selected candidate will also manage and maintain the Command and Telemetry Database (C&T DB), ensuring proper formatting, verification, and integration with flight and ground systems. The role requires close collaboration with software developers, systems engineers, avionics teams, and mission operations personnel.
What You'll Be Doing
Software Integration & Verification:
Integrate flight software, ground control software, and avionics systems within the MAVIS architecture. Develop and execute software integration test plans and procedures to verify system functionality. Perform hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing to validate software interactions with MAV avionics.
Command & Telemetry Database Development
Develop the Command and Telemetry (C&T) Database for MAV mission operations. Ensure consistency and accuracy of command definitions, telemetry points, and data formats. Support integration of C&T data with flight software, ground systems, and simulation environments. Work with mission operations teams to define telemetry requirements and command sequences.
Simulation & Modeling Support
Support deployment and usage of high-fidelity software simulations for MAV flight dynamics, guidance, navigation, and control (GNC).
Troubleshooting & Debugging
Analyze and resolve software integration issues, including interoperability, performance, and latency concerns. Possess knowledge of debugging tools, logs, and system monitors to identify root causes of software failures.
System Verification & Validation (V&V)
Define and implement verification strategies for software and C&T database validation. Support Software Readiness Reviews (SRR), Integration Readiness Reviews (IRR), and Test Readiness Reviews (TRR). Ensure traceability between software requirements, verification artifacts, and test results.
Process Improvement & Compliance
Ensure compliance with NASA. LM software engineering standards. Implement continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for software updates. Support software configuration management (CM) and version control
Required Skills, Education, And Experience

Required Skills, Education, And Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field.
- 5 years of experience in software integration for aerospace, defense, or embedded systems.
- Strong proficiency in C, C , or Python for software testing and debugging.
- Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded software development.
- Familiarity with software verification & validation (V&V) processes.
- Experience with Command & Telemetry (C&T) Database development, management, and validation.
- Knowledge of hardware/software integration and communication protocols (1553, Ethernet, RS-422, SpaceWire).
- U.S. citizenship is required
- Experience working with flight software for launch vehicles or planetary exploration systems.
- Familiarity with NASA software engineering standards (NPR 7150.2), JPL flight software processes, or DO-178C.
- Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink for software simulation and analysis.
- Hands-on experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing environments.
