What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mortgage Specialist position at Energy One Federal Credit Union?
The position is responsible for the processing of mortgage loans from application up to closing. Will also be required to handle HELOCs such as the inquiries, origination, and processing/closing. Required to assist the mortgage personnel staff and members with day-to-day operations of mortgage lending. Responsible for maintaining a working knowledge of current credit union and regulatory policies regarding mortgage loans and guidelines to meet secondary market standards.
Responsibilities:
- Collect and organizes required documents for loan processing through desktop underwriting or in-house policy. Coordinates and orders appraisals, title work, flood certifications and other items needed in preparing the file for underwriting. Requests and obtains verification of employment, funds for closing, and tax transcripts. Requests preliminary underwriting be completed immediately after disclosures are received and verified.
- Constant communication with the member/borrower, realtors, title company and all relevant parties during the loan process.
- Answer phone calls regarding inquiries for mortgage loans and HELOCs.
- Assist Mortgage Department Manager with operational tasks as assigned.
Performance Measurements:
- Ensure closing documents are in compliance with policies and procedures, all required signatures have been obtained, endorsed and/or notarized, and files are closed in no more than XX days from receipt.
- Ensure established credit union and government standards for the mortgage industry are met at all times and strict compliance with policies, procedures, rules, and regulations are adhered to.
- Provide friendly, accurate, professional service to members and associates by responding to messages and correspondence same day or within a 24-hour turnaround time.
- Problem solving skills.
- Develop and maintain a working knowledge of the credit union's mortgage loan policies and procedures along with relevant government rules and regulations.
