Job Description
We are seeking a Truss Designer to support our sales team by designing floor and roof trusses using engineering/design software.
The ideal candidate is interested in producing high-quality, detailed work based on established standards, guidelines, and procedures.
Precise, consistent work output is essential, requiring patience to handle and complete one task at a time.
Responsibilities
- Operate Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) equipment or equivalent design software.
- Create floor and roof truss layouts using engineering and design software.
- Reads and interprets architectural and structural drawings.
- Confer with Engineering, Production, and Sales to establish and evaluate design concepts for manufactured products.
- Modify and refine designs to conform to customer specifications, production limitations, or building plan modifications.
- Develop component documents for plant work orders.
- Plan and pace own work efficiency to meet daily, weekly, project, or team-related productivity goals.
- Understand and observe all company safety policies and procedures.
- Attend/complete all applicable/assigned training.

Requirements
- Strong attention to detail is very important.
- Working knowledge of construction/building products sufficient to determine appropriate structural applications.
- Knowledge of building codes.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and architectural drawings.
- Ability to communicate with Sales/Engineering/Job-site crews.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated ability to manage time and schedules.
- Demonstrated proficiency with drafting, architectural design, or CAD applications preferred, but not required.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word preferred, but not required.
Education
- 3-5 years experience in Truss design, preferably intelliVIEW software by Alpine.
- 2-4 year engineering degree preferred, but not required.
- CAD/REVIT experience preferred.
