ENERGY SYSTEMS GROUP is looking for a Plant Operator to join our Operations Services team at our Eglin Air Force Base facility in Eglin, Florida. The position is onsite.
The Plant Operator is responsible for operations, basic troubleshooting, and performing minor repairs on an 800 kW, 1.2 MW, and 1.5 MW generator and associated equipment in an effort to ensure reliable, efficient, and cost-effective long-term operation. The Plant Operator is also responsible for operating, monitoring, general electrical and mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting and landscaping activities on two solar fields to include mowing, spraying, and weed removal.
The essential functions of the position include :
- The Plant Operator operates one or more types of control systems, generator(s), CHP plants, solar fields and provide customer service to government personnel at Eglin AFB
- Primary duties as a Plant Operator involve :
Conduct generator and solar operations in accordance with ESG safety requirements
Ensure plant adheres to ESG and Eglin AFB safety and environmental regulationsMonitor, conduct, and maintain daily records of checks on equipment, gauges, and indicators to detect evidence of potential / active issuesAdjust controls to regulate generator power output, start or stop generators, or other equipmentPerform routine solar field electrical, mechanical, and grounds maintenanceCollaborate with contractors and vendors hired by ESG and ensure contractors and vendors follow ESG safety regulationsCommunicate openly with ESG management and coworkers about all active or potential operational issuesOperate and maintain company owned vehicles and equipment, trucks, trailers, and Bobcat.Perform general housekeepingThe ability to work after hours for service / emergency calls to maintain working equipmentThe ability to travel with potential overnight stays as required to assist at Albany, Georgia site (Communicate with supervisors / management issues regarding job progress and assigned workResponsible for safe work practicesObtain safety permits and conduct activity hazard analysesUse and ensure good condition of all personal protective equipmentAssist technicians / operators / contractors when necessaryComplete regular safety trainingAbility to work safely from ladders, elevated platforms, and boom liftsYour background includes :
High school degree, vocational / technical training schoolTwo to five (2 to 5) years experience operating and maintaining electrical and mechanical systems.A bonus to have :
