Our Location
Energy Trust provides for a range of work location options, including remote, hybrid and in-office work. This position will represent Energy Trust in public settings and potentially at community events. We are open to candidates who live throughout Oregon and Washington. The Brand Manager would be expected to report to the office on a quarterly basis, at minimum.
What We’re Looking For:The Brand Manager works closely with Communications and Customer Service
(CCS) leadership, communications, customer experience, outreach and program marketing teams to establish and enhance brand recognition and trust among the customers and communities we serve. They provide strategic direction and regular guidance to staff working on activities that represent the brand at all touchpoints in the customer journey.
The person in this role is responsible for growing and maintaining Energy Trust’s brand identity by overseeing all aspects of marketing related to the brand, including market research, strategy development, brand position analysis, campaign execution and brand messaging, to ensure consistent customer perception and to provide a foundation of awareness and trust that enables effective outreach, program marketing campaigns and other activities. The Brand Manager may also serve as a subject matter expert on special initiatives or projects and is responsible for collaborating and aligning strategies and activities with Energy Trust’s program marketing team, who are responsible for leading B2C and B2B marketing strategies and campaigns.
This individual reports to the Communications and Marketing Lead - CCS
This position is expected to report to the Portland office quarterly at a minimum for all staff and other in-person meetings.
What You’ll Do:- Own the development of brand differentiation strategies, brand positioning, brand stories, brand messaging and brand campaigns based on a deep understanding of the organization, specific and differentiated audiences, and the energy efficiency and renewable energy marketplace in Oregon.
- Lead internal brand team to implement brand strategies and produce mission-driven content that effectively delivers results.
- Develop and oversee creative and media buying scopes, budgets and contracts for all contracted brand marketing work.
- Manage and enforce compliance with brand guidelines across all media, materials, and channels, including development and delivery of brand training materials.
- Support the CCS outreach team through the development of community-specific brand content and coordination and delivery of branded event experiences.
- Scope, monitor and apply consumer insights and market intelligence to identify brand opportunities and gaps and develop campaigns.
- Analyze and optimize brand performance across all marketing channels.
- Continue to expand Energy Trust’s relationships and engagement with diverse content creators, creative agencies, and vendors to support inclusive and multicultural marketing best practices.
- Support public relations strategy for Energy Trust’s brand efforts and collaborate with the program marketing team for consumer-focused PR efforts.
- Lead the development and management of key brand compliance products, such as brand books, brand guidelines and marketing collaboration, and review dashboards and processes.
- Oversee and/or direct editorial planning to support brand marketing activities.
- Oversee the development and management of annual brand marketing plans and budgets.
- Collaborate with marketing and outreach staff at utilities on co-branded activities at the brand level.
- Coordinate with CCS leadership and other senior management on their brand needs related to internal organizational culture, cross-organizational operations and key external stakeholders.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Perform all job functions in a safe manner.
- Hire and supervise staff to support brand marketing
- Hire and direct the work of internal and external contractors, such as market research firms, creative service providers, and specialized marketing consultants.

What You’ll Need:- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, communications, brand, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience working at a marketing agency or consumer brand.
- 5 years of experience developing brand marketing strategies, managing multiple marketing and communications campaigns simultaneously and managing and/or collaborating with large, interdisciplinary internal and external teams.
- 5 years of experience developing and executing consumer integrated and/or brand marketing campaigns.
- 2 years of supervisory management experience leading marketing professionals and contractors and maintaining strong productive working relationships in a highly collaborative environment.
- Experience working across business and consumer segments
- Familiarity with the energy industry and/or other regulated industries, particularly in Oregon, is a plus.
- Prior experience working in a nonprofit and/or an industry working in a public policy landscape is a plus.
- Knowledge, interest and/or experience in inclusive, multicultural marketing to reach diverse audiences. Spanish-language proficiency a plus, but not essential.
- Experience managing large budgets and contracts.
- Experience scoping and/or applying consumer insights research and campaign measurement to support the development and optimization of marketing activities.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage the creative process and provide effective direction to creative professionals.
- Excellent oral, written communication abilities including strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel software programs.
- Occasional travel may be required.
